The King Arts Complex celebrates the 27th anniversary Gala!
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing and Cultural Arts Complex (The King Arts Complex) is celebrating the 27th Anniversary Gala on Saturday May 17, 2014.
This years VIP reception and program begins at 7:00 p.m. honoring local renowned artists Aminah Robinson, Kojo Kamau, Ron Anderson, Abdi Roble and Talle Bamazi. The program will be held in the historic Pythian Theater featuring stunning larger than life paintings of each artist by Talle Bamazi.
Napoleon Bell of Columbus Government Television and co-host Toni Teague have graciously agreed to host “A Conversation with Our Treasures.” The conversation will be the feature of the VIP program. The presentation will be an interview-style dialogue with all of the artists in a comfortable living room style setting with soft seating. We anticipate the interview to be light and last about thirty minutes. In addition, the program will include a welcome from local dignitaries and a live auction to benefit our youth education program.
The VIP reception and program is followed by the Gala at 8:00 p.m. Columbus’s premier party with a purpose! Featured artists are acclaimed contemporary jazz artist Rachelle Ferrell and hip hop legend Chubb Rock.
The 27th Anniversary Gala is an evening filled with soulful music, dancing, fine cuisine, live entertainment, valet parking, and more. All proceeds support The King Arts Complex programs such as:
- ‘King Kids’ Youth Education
- 24 Free Community Events
- Performing Arts
- Visual Arts
- Cultural Arts
